WHAT'S CONSIDERED AN EMERGENCY?

As a pet owner, being able to recognize abnormal behavioral and physical changes in your pet is imperative. But how do you know your pet's experiencing an emergency?

SIGNS OF A PET MEDICAL EMERGENCY:

  • Difficulty/labored breathing

  • Ingestion of known toxins

  • Severe or uncontrolled bleeding

  • Eye injuries

  • Dilated pupils

  • Bloated, swollen, or painful abdomen

  • Lameness or inability to walk

  • Vomiting or blood in diarrhea

  • Loss of balance

  • Severe trauma (falls, car accidents, broken bones, open wounds)

  • Seizures

  • Collapse

  • Unconsciousness

If your pet is exhibiting any of the above symptoms, immediately bring your pet to our clinic or an emergency facility. If you're ever uncertain whether your pet needs emergency care, please don't hesitate to call our office at (317)844-6868 and one of our team members will be happy to address your concerns, assess your situation, and assist you with your next steps.
